PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
How do you know that Ahuru Lodge provides ethical and effective treatment services?
You can be assured of that through a number of safeguards:
Registered Practitioners
Ahuru Lodge's senior clinicians all hold Registered Practitioner status with New Zealand's addiction treatment professional body - the Drug and Alcohol Practitioner's Association of Aotearoa-New Zealand (DAPAANZ). The Association sets rigorous standards in which its practitioners must demonstrate competence and be reviewed annually. Membership also requires the practitioner to be accountable to the Association's Code of Ethics as well as engage in ongoing education and professional skills development.
External Supervision
Ahuru Lodge clinicians all receive individual and team clinical supervision from independent, certified clinical supervisors. Clinical supervision is the process of regularly reviewing the clinician's work with the goal of enhancing skills and ensuring ethical practice, transparency and accountability.
Evidenced-based Programme
The programme and counselling offered at Ahuru Lodge incorporates empirically supported treatment models and therapeutic techniques. These include motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural therapy and group based 12-step facilitation. The latest research has indicated these factors facilitate the best outcomes for treatment of substance abuse disorders
